June 4th 2012: SCREAM TV Series by MTV???

First things first, credit to Zakster and HelloSidney because as soon as i came online today i saw their posts relating to this.. Apparently MTV is developing a series based on our favourite film franchise..

TVLine.com have the main article up... Click below.

MTV is developing a weekly series based on the Scream film franchise, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

Former MTV execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley, who are shepherding the project under their DiGa production shingle, are on the hunt for a writer to pen the pilot.

It’s unclear what role, if any, Scream auteurs Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven will have in the potential series.

Well, this could be good, it could be bad....Odds are it will be bad. Unless this is some prequel of the events before Scream 4, focusing on the new generation, with the actors, I probably won't watch it. I could see a few of the actors coming back. Like Emma, Rory, or Mariele. What do they have going on? Just having one of the actors from the film (especially Emma <3), would make me want to watch the show. Let's hope they get a few actors from S4.

Anyone who has follows my Twitter page would already know how I feel. It's mixed feeling but hopeful. That would be the best way to describe it.

This is what I said: "As a #Scream fan since the beginning like a lot of you it would be easy to pass judgement on it Harsh judgement. No Wes Craven or Kevin Williams would make any longtime fan cringe at the very thought of this happening. Plus add to the fact it's on MTV really doesn't set well with a lot of horror fans. I have mixed feelings. The hardcore fan in me doesn't want it to happen as it may dilute my favorite horror franchise in major ways. The other part of me wants it to be successful as it would continue the franchise for generations to come. So even as I have mixed feelings on it ultimately it's a wait and see and hope for the best. #Scream"

If you want to rape and destroy the entire Scream franchise, this is the way to do it!!
Being a hardcore fan of Scream, This is an idea I hate!
Horror films has once again gone down the drench, and if someone can breath life to it once again, we all know who is the only one to do it.. Teens these days only cares about torture porn shit, and dosen't care about other horror movies that don't have tits and bodyparts all over the place..

Tbh, I don't think this will happen, because SCREAM is The Weinstein's baby, and they won't allow anyone else direct a tv series unless Wes is included in someway, and I'm pretty sure that they would rather make a Scream 5, because they will earn more from one film than a tv series, and the reason is that you have to buy a ticket to see the movie in theatres, while on mtv everyone can watch it for free without paying anything.
Bottom line is; The Weinsteins will lose ALOT of $$$$$$, and their reputation will be heavily damaged..
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some oozing to do..

If this was to go through this could end up making around the same as Scream 4. It the grand scheme of things not much. TV deals go for a crazy amount of money. However I look at it all as rumors until it's verified from the source.

The horror industry has only their self to blame about going down the drain. Rather than always creating the next thing they get one thing that works and ride it into the ground. Then they wait for someone like Kevin Williamson to come along to bring something innovated and off they go again. It's a broken record.

As far as Kevin Williamson coming in and being the savior of the horror industry I'm not so sure that I want him to be the one to do that since he can't even see a project out from beginning to end.
